SAN DIEGO ZOO SAFARI PARK

SAFARI EXCURSION HUB

Our team collaborated with the Safari Park on the look and feel, environmental graphics and signage, interpretive art, interiors, and narrative storytelling of this amazing addition to SDZSP.

As a graphic designer at Mangolin Creative, I explored different concepts for wayfinding solutions, developed attraction signage concepts and final production artwork, created immersive story-driven animal DNA inspired environmental graphics, and oversaw installation.

PLACEMAKING - ANIMAL DNA PATTERN DESIGNS

While developing the environmental graphics and signage package for the Safari Hub, I had the opportunity to design narrative-driven hand painted patterns to add character and theming to the Hub.

KEY DESIGN INSPIRATION:

  • Animal DNA from Sumatran tiger, Savanna Elephant, Macaw, Australian Platypus, Human
  • Complete chromosome sets, known as karyotypes, of living cell lines
  • Collaboration with Marlys Houck curator of Wildlife Biodiversity Bank’s Frozen Zoo®
  • Immersive storytelling that celebrates the culture of conservation and innovation
